Dear Friend of North Union Farmers Market,
North Union Farmers Market delivers impressive “return on investment.” We’ve run successful certified producer-only markets for 20 years, including two new markets opened in 2013 – University Hospitals Case Medical Center and the newly developed Star Plaza downtown, in partnership with PlayhouseSquare and Cleveland State University. We operate two thriving Indoor Winter Markets and we’re a leader in the state of Ohio – with an unprecedented total of nine regional markets.
But there’s more. In 2013, our lean North Union staff and dedicated corps of volunteers:
- educated more than 6,000 children in the city of Cleveland -- as we address the health crisis facing many urban children with our “Mighty Locavores” program of classroom presentations
- increased low-income family access to fresh, local food -- with our highest ever use of Ohio EBT food assistance cards and with SNAP, WIC, and Senior coupons available at all our markets
- earned national acclaim – with our markets named among the Top 20 Farmers Markets in the U.S. by American Farmland Trust in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
We’ve continued effective programs like our “Time to Grow” training to help build high quality businesses for hundreds of small family farms, urban gardens, artists and artisan producers.
Success like this doesn’t “just happen.”
It’s the result of careful planning and smart partnerships with local leaders. Please continue your support of North Union Farmers Market with a gift of $25 or even $50.
We partner with Cleveland Clinic, Cleveland Botanical Garden, Cleveland State University, Ohio State University, University Hospitals, PlayhouseSquare and 30+ nonprofits. We send our farmers into Cleveland Public Schools to teach the next generation. We all share a common goal: to educate the public about the many benefits of buying and eating local.
In 2014, we want to increase your returns – as we go beyond “preaching to the choir” to spread the local food message and access throughout Northeast Ohio. But we need YOUR help!
With your gift, we can continue our mission in 2014. Invest – and watch the returns grow!
