A Time to Grow
North Union Farmers Market provides an annual farmers' conference called A Time to Grow. The event is usually held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in January. Topics include soil health, marketing, small business management, product line expansion, and much more. Plus, the potluck lunch provided by attendees makes for a wonderful and delicious opportunity to converse and relax after a long market season!
The 2012 Conference featured family farmer, Todd Nichols and he focused on how to market your farm and farm stand successfully. His family farm, Nichols Farm and Orchard in Marengo, Illinois, sets up 16 tents at 17 different farmers markets around the Chicago area.
